| There are
actually two lighthouses in Trinidad, CA. The historic 1871 lighthouse at Trinidad Head
is still operational and is not open to the public (also not accessible - the Coast Guard
placed a gate at the entrance to its property clearly discouraging trespassers).
When the fourth-order lens was removed from this lighthouse in 1947, a replica of
the tower was built on the bluff overlooking the bay to house the original lens.
The original fog bell is also on display next to the memorial lighthouse.
