North Head Lighthouse, WA
Cape Disappointment Lighthouse provides good coverage for ships approaching the Columbia River from the south and west, but ships coming down from the north cannot see it until too late. After several shipwrecks, North Head Lighthouse was constructed in 1898 about two miles north of Cape Disappointment. Now renovated, the keepers dwelling can be rented for those interested in spending a couple of nights near these two lighthouses.
