Eldred Rock Lighthouse, AK
Eldred Rock Lighthouse is built on a small island in the Lynn Canal about 30 miles south of Haines, Alaska. Completed in 1905, Eldred Rock Lighthouse is one of the oldest remaining lighthouses in Alaska. Its octagonal shaped building is unique. The scenery around Eldred rock is breathtaking. Glaciers can be seen forming in the cirques on the Chilkat Range in the background.

This lighthouse is not open to the public, but if your Alaskan Cruise takes you to Skagway or Haines, make a point of watching out for this lighthouse. The combination of a well-kept building and the beautiful landscape surrounding it provide a photo op that few of us would want to miss.
