Makapu'u Point is the extreme southeastern point of the island of Oahu, overlooking Kaiwi Channel
between Oahu and Molokai. Most ships coming from the West Coast pass through this channel as they
head towards Honolulu. This 46-foot brick tower was built in 1909 395 feet above the water.
Its 12-foot tall first-order hyperradiant lens is the largest lens in America and can be seen
28 miles out to sea.
