Point Lookout Light was constructed on the north shore of the Potomac River in 1830.
In 1883, a second floor was added to the building and the light tower was raised from 24 to 37 feet tall.
This lighthouse was decommissioned in 1965. The inactive light is located in
Point Lookout State Park, but is fenced off near a U.S. Navy communication tower.
