Sandy Point Shoal Lighthouse, MD
This 51-foot caisson tower was built in 1858.   It is located about a mile offshore from Sandy Point State Park and is clearly visible from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (a.k.a William Preston Lane Jr Memorial Bridge).   The fanciful two-an-a-half-story brick structure reflects its Victorian heritage as it stands on a 35-foot concrete and stone casisson at the outer edge of the shoal.
