Sharps Island Lighthouse, MD
This 54-foot lighthouse was built in 1882 approximately 4 miles from the the southern tip of Tilghman Island just off the entrance to the Choptank River.   It is a cast iron cassion filled with concrete, and a brick lined cast iron tower was built on top.   In the winter of 1976-1977, severe ice flows tilted the tower 15 degrees, which is how it remains today, though the light is still active.
